Photoshoot

Wed Sep 3, 2008, 5:23 PM
It has been around 4 years since I last did a modeling photo shoot. Lately at work I mainly take product shots and after a while it gets boring.

Somehow you don't get the same interaction with an inanimate object. Granted, they will hold the pose for as long as you wish and they won't complain about how the position might be a bit hard for them. If I were looking for something like that, I'd have a toaster for a pet. Think about it, it can warm up your hands on those cold days, listen to all your problems without criticizing you, you don't need to clean up after them, no need to feed it or take it for long walks... and it makes your toast too!

There's nothing like interacting with people or going outdoors and taking pictures of things that are alive. It's the small details that get to make you know someone better. Any feedback we can get from others enriches our lives and makes the experience worthwhile. I guess that's why I was looking forward for this shoot, I'd be doing something that I could share with my girlfriend and not only get us closer but also get to shoot people.

Now I don't have many resources at the moment so all these photos have been taken using natural light that comes through my bedroom. I play a bit with the blinds in order to get more or less the lighting I want but it's not perfect. This particular day was an overcast one so my room didn't get enough light in certain areas. You can take the pictures from different angles and position your model in different places but it can be a bit tricky when you have a wooden beam coming right through the middle of the room. Where I live used to be an old church so I sleep among the rafters.

Anyway, this has been fun to do and I'm looking forward to another session. I just have to wait and see when Jen has some time from battling all those essays and projects from uni.

Cheers kitty cat for doing this with me! You can see some of her stuff on her site here :iconjenjojangles:
